Blogging 101

I enjoy writing stories for children.  Writing occupies my summers and during the rest of the year I work in the citrus industry. I sell wholesome fruits and vegetables and organic items like chicken and coffee and raw honey.  Also added to the menu is soft serve ice cream with freshly squeezed orange juice and or fresh strawberries.  I love my job and I love writing for children.    I hope that one day I will be able to devote all my time to just writing books.  Each book I write includes a lesson hidden within the story line.  The characters discover the lesson and act it out in the pages of my books.   The first one is entitled “He Called, I Answered. ” I wrote and published it in 2006.   It was written in rhyme and it was quite an easy  read. Perhaps in the next assignment I will write the poetic book out for anyone to read .

Poetry

This is for Blogging 101: Themes

Marys' Place:

I have written some poetry in my time and have enjoyed composing it.  I haven’t done it in awhile so I may be a little rusty. Usually my poems center around themes from the bible and from the meaning of some words I have found there.  Tonight, However I will pick out a word from the dictionary and do a poem about it.  The word I chose is blue.

Blue

Blue describes the skies by day when the sun is out to play.                                                      Cornflowers grow in the fields below in hues of blue and grey.                                                  It also gives a mountain…

Ha. The End.

Blogging 101-Dream Reader

Dear Sir:

Serveral years ago I wrote my first book.  I had no prior experience but it was something I was drawn to do because I wanted to share my faith in that type of media.  Members of my church who had experience as Web Masters stepped up and did the necessary things to get me published through an online service.  I made the necessary financial sacrifices to complete the project and all the proceeds from the book sales went back into the church for the children’s ministry.  I learned many aspects of the writing experience including getting a tax id number, setting up book signings, registering my book with the Library of Congress.  Getting an ISBN number, learning the right questions to ask Agents and much much more.  It was, so I thought, another project completed.  It was time to move onto something else. But, eight years later, my heart drew me right back into writing yet another book.  Ideas for stories keep filling my head which will take me the rest of my lifetime to complete.  Each story has a faith based lesson for children  9-12 years of age.  It is my hope to learn much more about the business and to teach others who are interested in this field to fulfill their dreams as well.  It is my desire to learn from the best in this field and to establish a platform in which I can help others fulfill their dreams.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mary M. West

Blogging 101

My name is Mary and I wrote and published my first children’s book in 2006.   The second book is nearly complete and I look forward to the day it is published.  I would like to learn more about blogging and I am glad that these classes are available to me.  I don’t know about technical tools like tags or even how to post a picture on my own.  So this is going to be a challenge for me.  I have a lot of reading to do from tutorials that explain the technical side of things so that I can be a proficient blogger.

Writers Club

I enjoyed interacting with my writers group on Tuesday night.  There is another published writer within my group which is encouraging to me.  I do a lot of research to ensure that the facts I share are accurate. And I do hope that when the group meets again,  they too, will learn to explore the many facets of getting a project completed and published.  Our next meeting will be October 7 at 6:30 PM.
